We are the 8-Ball Assassins
The 8-Ball Assassins Pool Club was established in 1972 as The Scratchies Pool Club. In 2016 the franchise was rebranded as the now known 8-Ball Assassins. In 2019, Conglomerate ANT Inc. purchased a minority 30% stake in the club. The club is majority owned by entrepreneur Nick J. M. The 8BA are 2 time MBPA Vacation Pool Champions winning in 2016 and 2017. They are 1 time APA Champions, winning in 2023. We play our home games at Boeing Park Arena in Newark, NJ which we share with the Ballz of Steel Pool Club. The 8BA pride themselves in embracing the underdog and silently moving up the ranks to win championships. In 2023 we rebranded our colors and logo to add a dark red to our grey and black pallets. The assassin in the smoke on our home uniforms represent the sneaky way that we win. Sinking balls into pockets and digging holes is what we do best.
The Scratchies (1972 - 2016)
Our original team name and logo. The name originated from the way that team founder Joseph Nicholas would put pressure on opposing teams to scratch, leading to a win for Nicholas's team. During the Scratchies era, the team was frequently seen as an underdog due to their smaller and less well known roster; but still managed to capture championships, 9 WPA Championships.

The 1st 8BA Era (2016-2023)
In 2013 Nick J. M. bought our club, and by 2016 he rebranded the whole team into the 8-Ball Assassins, with new logos, colors, and uniforms. The now fan favorite Skull Logo debuted and the team went on to win back to back MBPA Vacation Pool Championships and a World Pool Championship in the first two years of the rebrand!
The 2nd 8BA Era (2023-Now)
In 2023 the 8BA went through a smaller rebrand, debuting a new logo, a new color, and new uniforms (yes, the skull logo is still active too). This new era has also seen some big superstar signings such as David Alcaide and Jayson Shaw; Which is uncharacterstic to do for the franchise. The 8BA also won their first ABA Championship! The future looks brighter than ever before!
